The Phybridge UniPhyer is a Layer 2/3 Ethernet appliance that provides a complete parallel voice network over existing telephone cabling. The solution allows for a non disruptive, quick and easy way to deploy IP telephony and Unified Communications (UC) applications.

The Phybridge UniPhyer comes in both a 24 and 48 port models. The Phybridge PhyAdapters are common to both models. It is necessary to have one PhyAdapter for every active port on the Phybridge UniPhyer.

Yes. Any IP PBX device is supported as the Phybridge UniPhyer is configured as a layer 2 switch.

The UniPhyer will work with both Multi Mode Fiber (MMF) and Single Mode Fiber (SMF).

MMF uses different light frequencies, is for lower cost applications and for short distance runs (is used within a building or campus - 100 Mbit/s up to 2 kms and 1000 Mbit/s up to 500 meters. The UniPhyer will work for both of these network rates for voice bandwidth. The GBIC modules are MMF specific and use a lower cost technology.

Single Mode Fiber (SMF) is for higher precision, longer distance applications (more costly for cable and module technology used), 10 to 80 kms applications typically, MMF is orange cable, SMF is yellow cable.

The UniPhyer will work with both SMF and MMF, the limitation is in the GBIC module (rate)
